Ana Tereza Basilio

Bachelor of Law from Universidade Cândido Mendes, she has accumulated experience in great law offices of Brazil, among them, Sergio Bermuders’ firm, where she worked for eleven years. She was also a partner of Trench, Rossi e Watanabe Firm (Baker & McKenzie), being responsible, in Brazil, for the civil and commercial litigation area, from July, 2002 to December, 2005. She is a post graduate in North American Law from Wisconsin University, and is a specialist in civil and commercial litigation and in arbitration. She taught Civil Law in the Post Graduation Course of the Escola Superior de Advocacia (Lawyer’s Superior School), from 1993 to 2001, and she’s the author of several books about corporate law.
From 2004 to 2006, she was the President of the Mediation and Arbitration Chamber of the Brazilian Bar Association, Section from the State of Rio de Janeiro, in which she also acted as President of the Lawyer's Association Committee, from October 2003 to December 2006, Vice-President of the Arbitration Committee, during the same period, besides being elected as Chief Counselor of the Brazilian Bar Association, during the three-year periods from 2000 to 2003 and 2003 to 2006. She was appointed as member of the Committee to Fight Piracy and Unfair Competition of the Federal Committee of the Brazilian Bar Association, from July 2005 to December 2006, and of the Special Committee to Fight Piracy and Unfair Competition of the Federal Committee of the Brazilian Lawyers Association, from which she is still a member. She is also a member of the Editorial Committee of the Arbitration and Mediation Magazine, and she’s a member of the Corporate law Committee from the Escola da Magistratura (Judge’s School) of the High Court of the State of Rio de Janeiro.
She is a professor from Fundação Getúlio Vargas, in the Arbitration post graduation course. She is internationally recognized because she was elected as a Leading Individual in Latin America, in the corporate litigation area, by the English magazine "Latin Lawyer", in the year of 2006, and as leading Individual in the list of the best lawyers in the world in the area of corporate litigation, by the English magazine "Who's Who", in 2006 and 2009. She was also elected, by the "Análise da Advocacia" magazine, in the years 2006 and 2008 as one of the 10 best lawyers of the civil area in Brazil.
Composes the Regional Electoral Court of the State of Rio de Janeiro, as substitute member of the lawyer class, since December 2010. Also, hold the positions of Judicial Electoral School Director and Chairman of the Commissions of Case Law and Consolidation and Review of Normative Rulings of the Court.
